Lea Lisa (Phonica Records, Wolf Music…) is a DJ, producer & vinyl addict who never stops digging and hasn’t since she first started in 1995. House music is so rich and varied that she naturally felt the desire to show and share this diversity. “Through this compilation I wanted to present artists and records that have greatly influenced me throughout my career. Whether through the strong messages they convey or through the emotions I felt discovering each of these vinyl.” said Lea Lisa. Carefully packed with long-forgotten US house gems (Transient’s groove keeper “Higher” and a 1997 NYC House tune from Kerri Chandler in his garage house days), iconic early house/techno treasure (Mark Goddard‘s “Truth”), intensive journeys (Passion Dance Orchestra) to atmospheric soundscapes (Pure Science), soulful grooves (Ron Trent‘s boogie infused “Can’t Change Me”) and timeless deep house gems (Slowhouse, Abacus). Created in 2005, Favorite Recordings presents a rich catalogue combining the productions of new artists with reissues of forgotten masterpieces all along the wide groove music spectrum, from Soul/Funk, Jazz, Disco, to Reggae, Hip-Hop, House or Electronic genres. Before launching Favorite. Pascal Rioux, founder and label honcho, started in the mid-90s with the House music label Rotax Disques. Tracklist/Description: As we are looking forward to celebrate Loser Records' 5th anniversary this year, we are happy to continue our beloved podcast series and have our friend Marie Lung on board to take over this March's episode. Marie's love for music began at a young age, and she began DJing in her early 20ties in Hamburg. After honing her skills and gaining experience playing at local clubs and events, Marie began producing her own music, drawing inspiration from the underground house music scene in Berlin. As a DJ, Marie is known for her dynamic and engaging sets, which seamlessly blend together different styles of house music. Marie just returned from her first international Tour in India and her performances have taken her to some of the most prestigious festivals, including FUSION, GARBICZ or NACHTIVILLE and Clubs like Frankfurt’s ROBERT JOHNSON, Hamburg’s PUDEL or Berlin’s HEIDEGLÜHEN, to name just a few. She just released her debut EP „Ivy Blues“ on the Manchester based label „Dreaming Forever“ where she teamed up with techno veteran .VRIL and Session Victims’ own Matthias Reiling who delivered killer Remixes. If Marie is not in the DJ booth spinning records, you most likely find her on the floor. Though highly respected by her fellow jockeys for her mixing style and impeccable skill at that, she’s a fan first and a club kid at heart – which seems to be a major reason for her ability to immediately connect with different kinds of crowds in various settings. Records Berlin, Germany After coming into his element in recent years, Berlin based The Checkup looks to broaden his horizons even further in the coming period. Raphael has become synonymous with energetic house sounds of old and new, maintaining a soulful outlook as he meanders between animated productions, and positive storytelling with his DJ sets, both of which he has received global acknowledgement for. Whilst balancing all of the above The Checkup continues to propel stellar sounds on his own Heatup Music, a project which has seen him sign the likes of Demuir, Elisa Elisa and Demarkus Lewis, a sought after label collaborating with some of the finest names in house music on a regular occurrence. On a day to day basis he holds down the fort at Beatport as the House curator, a nod of approval for his impeccable taste within the genre, and closely related vibes. It is to no surprise that in recent years The Checkup has received love and support from some of the most inspiring artists within the scene time and time again. A few artists who recognize the realness are Archie Hamilton, Jamie Jones, Kerri Chandler, Alinka, Ben Rau, Riva Starr, Mark Broom and Honey Dijon, a mixed bag of support marking the true versatility of his productions and personality in the booth, with some of his productions gracing the likes of the Panorama Bar dance floor. Tracklist/Description: House Saladcast 933 | Yoshi Horino UNKNOWN season / YoshiFum Tokyo, Japan Yoshi dove into the world of dance music by starting to DJ in 1991. From then on, he went on work as the house music buyer and sales clerk at the renowned record store in Shibuya, Dance Music Records, selling not only the hottest NY deep house but also introducing rather early in Japan, the then, up and coming house sounds coming out of the U.K. and Europe to the top DJs in Japan. In 1997, he decided to expand his horizons and actually produce music and joined one of Japan’s premier dance music record label, Flower Records, headed by Eitetsu Takamiya a.k.a. Little Big Bee, where he acted as their A&R, promotions head and sales chief. This might be where many started hearing his name. As Flower Records’ main guy, he steadily promoted their incredible stew of domestic acts such as Su Paka Pooh, Little Big Bee, Jazztronik amongst others, to the level that it is universally known now for. To note, around the same period, with the recommendation by DJ Cosmo, he began writing disc reviews periodically at The Loft, David Mancuso’s website column, ear candy where his eloquent taste of dance music became quite renowned throughout the world. In 2003, he went independent and started doing an assorted variety of work in the dance music field such as promoting domestic and international labels and artists in Japan such as Franck Roger, Raphael Sebbag of UFO, Kenichiro Nishihara amongst others, license coordination and bookings. From 2005, he began promoting the French label, Kitsune and helped to establish their presence and popularity in Japan. In 2010, he set up his own record label, UNKNOWN season. A label that releases credible, electronic, house, tech-house ambient tracks produced by up and coming as well as established, high quality Japanese creators to the world. With Yoshi’s trustworthy taste in music and knowledge of nurturing acts, this label’s quality has not gone unnoticed and has received regular praise and confidence by some of the top DJs such as Jimpster, Laurent Garnier, Brothers Vibe, Guy J, DJ Sneak and James Holden who heavily played Gonno’s remix of Ryoma Takemasa’s track, Deepn. He also regularly hosts a mix show called “UNKNOWN season Radio Show” at West Radio in Greece (www.westradio.gr) which is aired every last Sat., 7:00 AM (Japan time/ 6:00 AM Summer Time) so tune in to his and his crew’s delightful sounds. His recent release of original producing was "Fallin' House" with Break 3000(Dirt Crew) from V.A. "Deep Love 3" out of Dirt Crew Recordings 2013 Aug. And also remix of Werner Niedermeier & Gareth Whitehead’s track, Blaq (Yoshi Horino Remix) out of WiN Recordings was given the heads up by Dirt Crew, Silicone Soul, Pig & Dan, Luciano, Bookashade, Sasse, amongst others. Currently, he is busy producing, running his label and DJing regularly to help spread the auspicious sounds and vibes coming out of Japan, via UNKNOWN season.
