And You & I - Jazzanova Live - In Between Revisited For 30 years, the six-member DJ and production collective, Jazzanova, has been highly influential, artfully bridging the worlds of jazz, soul, and world into a fusion of modern sounds that have delighted ears and feet through the years. My first introduction was listening to “Coffee Talk,” a downtempo tune whose debut on Los Angeles radio station KCRW was the start of a music trajectory that would see the group through many top-notch remixes, several studio albums, a number of special music projects, and, now, coming full circle with a live version of its 2001 debut, “In Between.” “In Between Revisited” finds Jazzanova in a live session, with an intimate audience, surfacing ack to the tunes from its 2001 album, but giving it an updated flair. To celebrate “IN Between Revisited,” I did an early July all-vinyl set at Jan’s Vinyl Bar in San Luis Obispo, where the owners are fans too and where I spin about 1-2 times monthly. It was an honor to do so, and so great to pull out vinyl from my radio show days, when the music was fresh. It stands up very well today. With that, I hope you enjoy the mix that I have for you: two hours of Jazzanova, along with friends, from vocalists to producers remixing Jazzanova.
