Recordings Bio: Joe Silva is an electronic music producer and DJ who began writing music in his early teens. Combined with his obsession for electronics, he eventually discovered the strange world of synthesizers and it was love at first sight. Releasing under the name They Never Sleep, his first EP was in the vein of 'new wave.' It wasn't until a stint of early '90s clubbing in Europe that he cemented his love for house music and he hasn't looked back since. His productions have found their way onto labels like Viva!, Guesthouse and Moulton Music. Collaborating with Ali Khan as 'Tonepushers' has led to live performances at Mutek and MEME festivals, and remixes on Slush, Fade and Lucidflow. In the 90's Joe started his vinyl imprint, Purespace Recordings. In the early 2000’s he was part of the Lustre crew, and then held residencies at Blue Agave, The Horseshoe and Bar Italia. His releases led to gigs around the world including San Francisco, Sau Paulo and Brisbane. He’s played multiple times at MEME, Emotion and Bring Your Love. Joe's DJ style is an exploration of the deeper forms of house and techno. He infuses his mixes with a funky, infectious sensibility designed to draw you in to the groove and get your body moving. His first 2 albums ‘Olive Street’ and ‘Balance’ under his Lucky Sun moniker, were highly received by DJ Mag and a host of worldwide DJ’s. They featured collaborations with vocalists Alison David, Frank H Carter III and Deniz Reno. Some great support for this album came from DJ’s Hot Toddy, Rainer Trueby, Ashley Beedle, Marcia Carr, CJ Makintosh, Satoshi Fumi, Peter Kruder, Funky Foot, Colin Dale and reviews in The Yorkshire Times and 48 Hills (San Fran). ‘Lucky Sun: Singles & Remixes’ album is set to be released in a couple of months. It includes collaborations with Jaidene Veda and Anna Ling, which have already had airplay on BBC Radio 1 by DJ S/A/M/ and Jazz FM.
